Dr Chong Chee Keong is a dual-fellowship-trained surgeon with more than 20 years of clinical experience. Dr Chong founded Maven Surgery with the aim of delivering compassionate and high-quality care for the two most common cancers affecting women and men.
Dr Chong’s breast cancer treatment approach places a strong emphasis on early detection, accurate diagnosis and personalised care. He understands the important role that minimally invasive surgery plays in preserving body image while maintaining effective cancer control and achieving optimal patient outcomes.
Through close multidisciplinary collaboration and ongoing professional development, Dr Chong is committed to guiding each patient with clarity, reassurance and dedicated care at every stage of their breast health journey.
Getting used to how your breasts normally look and feel can make it easier to notice when something isn’t quite right. Regular self-examinations can help you pick up changes early, even if they seem small.
While most breast changes are not cancerous, seeking a timely evaluation for unusual changes can help you ensure an accurate diagnosis and maintain your peace of mind.
We provide specialist evaluation and surgical management for a range of breast conditions, including:
Benign and malignant breast tumours, which may affect nearby tissue or spread to other parts of the body.
General changes in the breast such as lumps, thickening, skin changes or nipple discharge that may arise from a range of benign or more serious causes.
Fluid-filled sacs or firm growths within the breast that may vary in size, texture and cause.
Swelling or enlargement of lymph nodes in the underarm area, which can occur due to infection, inflammation or underlying breast-related conditions.
In order to diagnose and treat the above conditions, Maven Surgery offers a range of care services to support accurate detection and effective treatment planning.
We utlise several screening/imaging methods to assist in the detection and diagnosis of breast-related conditions.
A mammogram is a low-dose X-ray used to screen for early signs of breast cancer, often before symptoms develop. It is commonly recommended for routine screening and further evaluation of breast changes.
Breast ultrasound screenings use sound waves to assess lumps or abnormalities, and are often used alongside mammograms to provide a clearer evaluation.
At our clinic, we carry out breast cancer surgery with a focus on minimally invasive techniques. Dr Chong aims to preserve the breast as much as possible and reduce stress and anxiety among our patients. Our comprehensive surgical services include:
There are two main approaches to lymph node surgery in breast cancer treatment, depending on whether there is concern about cancer spread.
In some cases, a small number of lymph nodes are removed as part of a biopsy to check if cancer cells have started to spread. If these are clear, no further removal may be needed.
In other cases, when cancer spread is confirmed or strongly suspected, a more extensive procedure may be performed to remove a larger group of lymph nodes as part of treatment.
Mastectomy is the removal of the entire breast. It may be recommended when the cancer is more extensive, involves multiple areas or cannot be safely removed with a smaller operation.
Breast conservation surgery involves removing the tumour while preserving as much of the breast as possible. It is typically considered for earlier-stage cancers where the tumour can be safely excised. This treatment approach is in line with our clinical focus on minimally invasive techniques, with the aim of helping patients maintain their natural body image while still achieving safe and effective cancer control.
In addition to surgery, breast cancer treatment may involve other therapies depending on the type and stage of the cancer. These treatments are often used alongside surgery to reduce the risk of recurrence and improve overall outcomes.
Hormone therapy is used for hormone receptor-positive breast cancers to block or lower the body’s oestrogen levels, which can help slow or stop the growth of cancer cells.
Radiotherapy uses targeted radiation to destroy remaining cancer cells in the breast area, and is commonly recommended after breast conservation surgery.
Chemotherapy uses anti-cancer drugs to destroy cancer cells throughout the body. It may be recommended before or after surgery, depending on the characteristics and spread of the cancer.
